Coach Stacy Hester
Stacy Hester begins his 17th season as the
head coach at New Hope High School.
Hester became the Trojans' coach in 1992
and has become the winningest coach in the
history of New Hope Baseball.  Hester has
carried on the tradition of excellence that has
been associated with the New Hope Baseball
program.  In his first sixteen years at New
Hope, Hester's Trojans have totaled 500 wins
with only 125  losses.  That is a winning
percentage of 80 %.  Hester has led the
Trojans to the state playoffs in each of his
fifteen seasons.  Under his leadership, the
Trojans have won thirteen District
Championships,  He has led the Trojans to
four appearances in the State Championship
Series, finishing as State Runner-up in 1995,
1999, and 2002 and as Class 4A State
Champions in 1996, 1998, and 2003.  For all
his efforts and the teams accomplishments in
1996, Hester was named Mississippi High
School Coach of the year by the
Clarion
Ledger
and the Mississippi Association of
Coaches.
In 1996 he was named National High School Coach Of the Year by the American Baseball
Coaches Association.  Also, in 2002 he was selected as the ABCA Regional Coach of the Year.
Hester's basic philosophy is based on two simple concepts: Hard work and Discipline.  The
players know what is expected of them from the start and know that when they come to practice
that they will be pushed to the limit each day.  Baseball practice at New Hope would be a
marathon for players from many other schools, however; Hester believes and his players
understand, that to be a champion you have to dedicate yourself to doing whatever it takes to
make yourself the best you can possibly be.  This hard work and discipline has paid great
dividends over the past few years.
Before coming to New Hope, Hester was the head coach at Washington School in Greenville,
MS.  At Washington his teams won two MPSA State Championships (1987 and 1988).  In
2006, Coach Hester set another milestone in his career.  Against opponent N.E. Lauderdale, the
New Hope Trojans pulled out an victory which gave Coach Hester his 600th win.
Hester was a four sport letterman at Greenville Christian School.  He went to Delta State
University and lettered in baseball, basketball and track.  Hester attributes his coaching success
to his college coach, David M."Boo" Ferris.  Hester says, "Everything I do as a baseball coach
has been greatly influenced by Coach Ferris.  He not only helped me in my coaching career, but
his influence has helped me in my personal life."  Hester received his Masters of Education
Degree from Delta State in 1982.
Hester, 48, and his wife Ann have been married for 28 years.  They have four daughters,
Jennifer, Lauren, Neely, and Emily as well as one granddaughter Olivia.
